In short: Spain's Ministry of Inclusion (Directorate-General for Migration Management) has launched a 5,000,000 € grant call for non-profit organizations to fund voluntary return projects for third-country nationals in 2026. The application deadline for organizations is 15 working days from 5 June 2026 (approximately 26 June 2026 — verify the exact date in the official source).
In person or by representative? This grant is for organizations (legal entities), not individuals. If you are an immigrant wishing to use the voluntary return programme, contact an authorized partner organization (NGO, IOM) — not the Ministry directly.
What is voluntary return? A Spanish State programme supporting third-country nationals who wish to return to their country of origin. It operates through NGOs and international bodies. Two types:
- Assisted return and reintegration — for people in situations of special social and economic vulnerability. Includes individualized guidance and reintegration support.
- Productive return — for people who wish to start a business in their home country. Includes self-employment training and technical support.
Who can benefit: Third-country nationals meeting the annual call's requirements, managed by authorized partner organizations. Specific eligibility requirements (legal status, vulnerability, etc.) are set by Orden ISM/820/2023 (regulatory bases) — check details with the organization or on the official programme page.
How to access (for individuals): Through authorized partner organizations. See the updated directory at inclusion.gob.es — Retorno voluntario.
Important: Voluntary return may entail conditions (e.g. a period during which you may not return to Spain). Find out all the consequences with the managing organization before deciding.
